Alanya Stars and Cardiff & Met shine in women’s Challenge I

Alanya Stars and Cardiff & Met won their respective finals to secure promotion for Türkiye and Wales up to Trophy II level in 2026, triumphing at the EuroHockey Club Challenge I in Alanya.

They got the best of UKS Swarek Swarzędz and IFK SumDPU respectively in contrasting fashion with Alanya winning out 8-2 while Cardiff went all the way to a shoot-out.

For the Turks, they built a 4-0 half-time lead with Ayla Esen, Derya Cantemiz, Meryem Aydin and Nur Baran all scoring. Two each from Fatma Ciğerli and Zeliha Kendir in the second half meant they were never troubled.

Cardiff and SumDPU went the distance as normal time finished 0-0. In the shoot-out, Tegan Waters, Millie Barnes and Molly Hulcup scored while goalkeeper Amy Partridge kept three out for a 3-1 success.

HC Luxembourg won 2-0 against Europa in the battle to finish in fifth place, second half goals from Daniele Holper and Delfina Orguet earned them the victory.
