Hosts Lisnagarvey and Nevşehir Belediyesi shine on opening day

The men’s EuroHockey Club Trophy I and Challenge I got off to flying starts in Lisburn and Konya with the host clubs picking up strong wins.

Men’s EuroHockey Club Trophy I – Lisburn

Hosts Lisnagarvey put seven past Slavia Prague to start their own EuroHockey Club Trophy I campaign off with a bang.

The reigning champions showed their intent from the get-go with Andrew Williamson grabbing a brace and Oliver Kidd also scoring to give them a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

A further four goals throughout the game coming from Jonny Lynch, Matthew Nelson, Andrew Edgar and Ryan Getty sealed a solid 7-1 win for the Ulster club.

They will face a big tussle on day two against Cardiff & Met who were also winners by six goals, seeing off Italy’s ASD Tevere 6-0 with Ioan Wall scoring a hat trick.

In Pool A, CAM 92 won 4-0 against OKS SHVSM Vinnitsa in the one game played on the day. The French side can confirm a final spot if they win their game on Saturday against Scotland’s Grange.

Men’s EuroHockey Club Challenge I – Konya

Denmark’s Orient Lyngby and Türkiye’s Nevşehir Belediyesi Spor Kulübü grabbed the points on the opening day in Konya to take the early advantage in this four-team competition.

For Orient, they came back twice against Hungary’s Építök to win 3-2 with Patryk Bulka’s hat trick making the key difference, scoring the winner in the 51st minute.

For the Turkish hosts, they were too strong for HC Vinnitsa, building a four-goal lead in the first half en route to a 5-1 win with a double from Celal Aydin.
