Germany claim EuroHockey U18 Boys title in Lille thriller

Germany captured gold on finals day at the EuroHockey U18 Boys Championship in Lille on 19 July 2025, edging France in a dramatic shootout. Belgium took bronze, the Netherlands topped Pool C, and Czechia and Scotland were relegated to Championship II.


Final: Germany edges France in shootout to win gold
Germany held their nerve in a tense shootout to defeat hosts France 3-2 after a 1-1 draw. Carl Möltgen cancelled out Noah Scholz’s early opener before Caius Warweg scored the decisive shootout, with keeper Geisler keeping out the final attempt from France to secure the title!

Bronze Match: Belgium beat Spain in a shootout for third place
Belgium came from behind to draw 1-1 with Spain, then executed a perfect shootout to take bronze. Mathias François was among the scorers in the 3-0 shootout win, as Spain were denied at every turn.

In Pool C:
The Dutch dismantle Czechia to finish fifth overall
The Netherlands produced a dominant 13-2 performance against Czechia to top Pool C. Juup Krop and Floris Rap starred as the Dutch secured fifth overall. Czechia, finishing bottom of the pool, are relegated to Championship II.

England and Scotland share spoils; Scots relegated
England and Scotland drew 1-1 in their Pool C clash, with Olly Bennett and Matthew Leiper trading penalty corner goals. The point secured second place in Pool C for England, while Scotland’s third-place finish in the Pool means relegation.

Following 6 intense days and 20 games, Germany’s title win capped a superb EuroHockey U18 Championship in Lille and treble Champions. France impressed en route to silver, Belgium bounced back for bronze, while the Netherlands closed strongly. Czechia and Scotland drop to Championship II for 2027.
