Coaches from across Europe have successfully completed the latest editions of the EuroHockey Institute’s Coaches for Europe (C4E) and Top Coaches Programme (TCP), marking another important step in their development.
The Coaches for Europe programme was led by mentors Arseni Sañé (ESP), Shenarda Dedic (ENG) and Erik Wonink (NED), while participants in the Top Coaches Programme were guided by Michel Kinnen (BEL), Mark Bateman (ENG) and Siegfried Aikman (NED).
The first C4E seminar took place at Club Raffelberg in Duisburg in March, while TCP participants gathered for their opening seminar in January at Club Junior in Sant Cugat. EuroHockey extends its thanks to both clubs for their support in hosting the programmes.
Both programmes came together for their second seminar in Belgium during the FIH Hockey World Cup, providing participants with an opportunity to connect their learning with elite international competition.
Throughout the programme, C4E coaches focused on developing individual technical skills and tactical principles while TCP participants explored advanced tactical concepts, including how coaches can respond to and influence momentum shifts during matches.
As part of the World Cup experience, coaches also took part in a discussion with Spain national team head coaches Max Caldas and Carlos Garcia Cuenca who shared their insights on emerging trends and key learnings from the tournament.
Certificates were presented to graduating coaches by EuroHockey Board Member and Chair of the EuroHockey Coaching Committee Inez Cooper.
New Direct Application Route Opens for Coaches
EuroHockey has also announced a new direct application pathway for both the Coaches for Europe and Top Coaches Programme. Coaches can now apply directly to participate, alongside the existing nomination process through National Associations, broadening access to the Institute’s flagship coach development programmes.

The deadline for nominations and applications is 16 September 2026.
