This Tournament started in 1990 and has been dominated by German teams since then, Rüsselsheimer RK being a name that struck fear in the hearts of women's indoor hockey players from 1994 through to 2006, an incredible record unlikely to be beaten as the Bundesliga competition has become even more competitive with the Champions varying over the years since then. KTHC Rot-Weiss Koln come in as hot favourites in Vienna, but HC Ritm-Azot Grodno from Belarus took the Germans to penalties in the final in 2012, so will be looking for some sporting revenge, and perhaps the all elusive gold medals.

Fridays games:
In addition, we are delighted to have the Trophy division being hosted by Rot Weiss Wettingen who missed out on promotion last year by the narrowest of margins, a minus 2 goal difference being the difference between them and the girls from Bowdon, England taking the promotion slot. They will be only too aware that in this competition each and every goal is essential, even keeping the down the scores and gaining the bonus losing point can make a difference on the final day!

And finally we are delighted to have the Challenge Division being hosted by C.F.Belenenses, it's their first time hosting a EuroHockey event, so we wish them well, we know that they have been working hard to be prepared to host this wonderful event in Lisbon, and have invited the local schools to enjoy the wonderful sport that is Indoor Hockey! A hectic schedule with one pool of 7 teams, that's 21 games over the 3 days.
Their site is: http://www.eurohockey-lisbon2013.org/hsf/EN/index.html and their Facebook page is: www.facebook.com/pages/Eurohockey-Lisbon-2013
The EHF would like to wish all the teams the very best of luck on the court and hope they enjoy the efforts of their hosts off the court! The EHF President re-iterated the message she passed to the men's captains 'A special word to the team captains - We except respect from all of your team, especially in your role as captain: be the leader your team deserves and make the game even quicker by being the only one who speaks to the umpire!'
