The first women hockey team in Siauliai was formed by doctor Feliksas Paskevicius. In the same year, Siauliai held the first indoor championship with the participation of 4 teams. In this way, the organized hockey movement in Lithuania got underway, and in 1978 the Lithuanian Hockey Federation was put on the register.
In 1978-79 the Siauliai „Tauras" women‘s club tokk part in the USSR I league championship, where qualified for the Premier league. In a year, Mr. Rimantas Caikauskas was appointed head coach of „Tauras" team, together with whom Siauliai players walked their legendary way from the USSR championships to the EHF club champions cup tournament. In the period between 1980-90 „Tauras" played in the USSR Premier league for 9 years, during which once won the bronze medals (1985) and twice the Cup (1985, 1987).

Upon the restitution of Lithuania‘s independence, „Tauras" was renamed to „Siauliai" and in 1993 fought it‘s way into the „A" division of the EHF outdoor and indoor champions cups. In indoor championships „Siauliai" 4 times finished in the 4th place (1994-2001) and in 1995, in the outdoor EHF champions cup in Utrecht, won the bronze medals.
