HOCKEY IN RUSSIA

All-Union Bandy and Hockey Federation of USSR was founded in September 1967/ Mr. GRANATUROV Grigory Petrovich was elected as its President.
The establishment of United Bandy and Hockey Federation in late 1967 by the decision of the Union of Sports Societies has created the organisational base to develop Hockey.
A great experience of Albert LEIKIN in sports journalism has promoted to affiliation to International Hockey Federation. As a secretary in charge for sports press and a researcher of Hockey history and through his ability to command many foreign languages Albert Leikin has made a basis to develop this kind of sport in the USSR.
The FIH Council has adopted at the Meeting held on October 26,1969 the FIH membership for USSR Bandy and Hockey Federation and EHF membership for russian Hockey has been finalized on September 22,1969.
The independent USSR Hockey Federation was founded in 1980 after Moscow Olympic Games.President was elected -CHIBIRYAEV Stanislav Arkhipovich.
Mr.BEZRUKOV Mikhail Petrovicg was USSR Hockey Federation ,s President within 1988-1992.
The following Republics were Member Nations of the USSR Hockey Federation-Azerbaijan,Armenia,Belorussia,Georgia,Kazakhstan,Luthania,Moldovа,Russia,Tadjikistan,Turkmenia,Uzbekistan,
Ukraine.After the USSR breakdown the Russian Hockey Federation wasestablished on January 18,1992.RHF President-CHECHENKOV Sergey Vasilievich,Hon.President-Mr.LEIKIN Albert Lvovich who has been officiating within many years as Member of FIH Council.Russian Hockey Federation includes 7 Federal Regions of
Russia,Moscow and St.Petersburg.RHF has 8000 individual members/persons.
RHF annually runs over 50 sports events for children,juniors and seniors.
RHF President is a real enthusiast of Hockey ,he does his utmost to develop this Olympic Sport in Russia.Thanks to his active and dynamice activities the specialized hockey pitches are under construction in Russia to practice Hockey in order to enable russian hockey athletes increase their sporting skills in different age groups for successful performance of the teams at the International Events.
